New Server has arrived - Your Support Needed!
Trance.nu: Update: The new server is installed and running, just in time for this weeks ASOT episode! We've added some pics... So far we have collected $552.00 from our members! Were getting closer. Check inside to find out how you can help support your trance community!

To date (09/27/2007) we have collected $552 USD from our members. Thank you so much for all that have contributed so far. You have been given a special "donator" status on your MyPage. So we have already reached 390 Euro - leaving us with 610 Euro to go. We'll get there! Every little bit counts
As many of you know, Trance.nu started out back in 1999 as a small site for people to get together and read and chat about trance music. Over the years with the help of our staff volunteers and even our members we have grown significantly. With this incredible growth, come higher costs both for bandwidth and server hardware. As a not-for-profit site we continually pour our own money and any advertising money back into the site to help pay for everything. We donate advertising space to good causes, and even to help promote parties around the globe.
With the launch of V4, our site has seen a steady climb both in activity and active users. With this comes the need for a proper server for Trance.nu. Currently we are using a machine that Kevin donated back in early 2006 – which has done a decent job to date but has finally been outgrown. We're sure some of you have noticed a few days where the site is not quite as quick as it usually is.. well now you know why We're writing this news item! We need your support!
We've have just purchased a new server for Trance.nu – because We don’t think we can afford to wait until we have all the donations raised for it. The server cost about 1700 Euro – here are the specs:
CPU : Quad Core Intel® Xeon® 2.40GHz, 2x4M Cache, 1066MHz FSB
Memory: 4GB DDR2, 667MHz, 4x1GB DIMMs
HDD : 160GB, SATA II, 3.5-inch, 7.2K RPM Hard Drive
2nd HD: 160GB, SATA II, 3.5-inch, 7.2K RPM Hard Drive
RAID : SAS 5IR internal RAID adapter, PCI-Express
After the Trance.nu coffers were emptied, we still needed about 1000 Euro which we put in out of our own pocket for now. We have lots of exciting new projects planned with V4 – as this is only the Beta release there are many things we are going to do over the next year. We’d appreciate your donation – large or small. All donations will be tracked and users will be credit a special “Donator” credit showing their support for our community.
