Getting Started With v4
Updated: Thursday 26th, July 2007 08:42:39
How do I work this newfangled technigiggle? What's a 'V4'? Check here for help on using our new website…
How do I login?
The login box is located on the right-hand side just below the search box. When you're correctly logged in you will see your current operating status on the site (e.g. "checking trance.nu").
How do I get back to the homepage?
Simple. Click on the Trance.nu logo at the top of the website.
How do I read an article?
Oh come on, are you serious? Okay… You need to click on the headline and you should get whisked away to the full article. Same deal for any reviews you want to read.
What's that poll for?
Just a bit of fun. Every now and then we'll pose questions to our trance.nu audience. We'd love to see your opinion on certain things, or even your favorite [insert thing here].
Where did the menu go?
You must be thinking of our old side menu (salad, garlic bread, the usual extras…) We now implement a horizontal menu for all options, with a sub-menu under each option. It's much neater and located just beneath the 'Guestbook', 'Events', and 'Messages' buttons. It might take a while getting used to, but everything's all still there.
How do I get to the message board?
Just click on the menu item called: Forum.
How do I change my profile photo? My biography? My pictures? etc.
All user-related controls are located under the Mypage menu item. If you roll over it you should see a sub-menu appear underneath.
- Clicking on Edit Profile lets you change your password, email address, flickr login, birthday and other misc options.
- Clicking Edit Presentation allows you to change your introduction text people see on your profile (some weird people call this their biography).
- Clicking Edit Portrait lets you change your photo attached with your user account, there are more instructions on the page itself.
- Guestbook is where other users can leave comments (you can also access your guestbook by clicking the Guestbook icon in the top left corner of the website).
- Gallery is linked to a Flickr user account (if you have one) and gives people access to your gallery straight from trance.nu.
- Click Messages to send and receive Private Messages with other members, similar to your own mini trance.nu email account!
- Now Karma is where it gets complicated - depending on how much you contribute to the trance.nu community (including toplists, profiles, messages to other members, etc.) your karma goes up - The more karma you have the better person you are!*
- Like the Gallery, Toplist is linked to another service called AudioScrobbler - this lists in your profile your personal popular music of the week. You need to set up an account and download software for this to work, but by donating the effort you will become king of all trance.nu.*
- Backtrack tells you what you've been doing today. Yes Backtrack is omnipotent, yes it will know when you've been naughty.*
* not really.
Where do I show my appreciation of this website or an article?
It's all about our forums baby! We always check in there, and we'll see anything you write. Anything.
What do I do if I need any more help?
Just head on over to our FAQ section, located in the menu bar - you can also ask your own questions there. Or post in our forums and someone will help out.
