Cliff Coenraad - Gone South
Cliff Coenraad is the man who can bring you the best of tech, progressive, house and trance...all in one sitting! Cliff Coenraad doesn't seem to specialize in any particular sound but his excellent ability to keep his musical ear to the ground for what's hot on the musical scene allows him to inject those trends into his productions with clinical brilliance.
'Gone South' is already proving to be a massive track on all thumping floors. With four plays alone at the recent Trance Energy 2009 festival, attending crowds could easily have mistaken 'Gone South' for the festivals 2009 anthem! And they could be forgiven for thinking so as the track's chorus riff is eclectic and has a strong anthem feel to it but that is where the anthem similarities end.
Cliff Coenraad's productions have an element of cool to them and his ear for the trends is evident in the progressive and techy groove that makes up the beat and bass line to 'Gone South' but it is the drop in this track that makes it an instant favourite with DJ's and dance music fans alike. the break down sets the scene with some electro synths that build up to an eventual cresendo making way to the faint riff which slowly starts to emerge and just as you can get your ears around that uplifting melody a thumping beat and proggy bass line drop with an energetic force that will have you bopping your head, throwing your hands in the air and smiling in EDM satisfaction!
Close friend and all star producer Leon Bolier puts his touch into 'Gone South' with a remix that has a 'YE' and 'Hold On' tempo to it accompanied by some very trancey strings at breakdown. A quality bundle for record bags and music collections alike.
