Jordan Suckley- Out Cold
Updated: Tuesday 19th, January 2010
UK tech trancer Jordan Suckley has seen some great successes in his DJ/Production career this past decade. He kicks off 2010 with a new tech trance bomb titled 'Out Cold' on Goodgreef Digital
Original Mix:
The original is a monster of a track. Jordan has created a pounding tech trancer here with tight and forceful percussion as well as a ripping bassline while diving into some really trancey riffs along with some supportive FX. The energy is carefully packed tight into this stormer up to the breakdown. The breakdown has a moody euphoria running about via choirs and various backup riffs and harmonies that are very well done and can really get the audience anticipating what is coming next. The main melody that comes in is sweet, and pretty memorable. Jordan, in true tech trance fashion, drops the beat back with that pumping tech bass that drives this track to the top of my ratings. I'm glad to have listened to this. Fitting title too, could have knocked me out cold if it was any better than it already is. 4.5/5
Gary Proud Remix:
Gary's take on this track initiates with some great percussion and a nice building acid line and FX before a sweet, driving bass line takes center stage in this tech trancer. Gary Proud has definitely upped the energy compared to the original. After introducing some subtle synths, he brings us into a breakdown with very luscious pads. However, it has a lead that I am personally not fond of. The buildup is massive, but I was a little disappointed when it finally dropped because it didn't seem to follow through very well when compared to his buildup. The main melody hits at the drop, and I have still not changed my mind on the lead. Overall this remix is really good, and my dislike for the lead is personal preference, but the drop could have been better. It's worth a listen though. 3/5
Long Distance Remix:
Long Distance is a name that is new to me, but this artist does know their stuff. Solid drums, cool FX, and a well-driven bassline are key component in this one as well as some very interesting yet well-placed synthesizer patches. The breakdown has some nice pads that are a tad haunting as well, and Long Distance included a suiting pluck melody that almost sounds like a piano and then they bring in the main melody with a lead similar to the originals. When the drop comes, however, I think I can hear some clipping in the track. Regardless, it's a cool remix. Not outstanding, but cool nonetheless. 3.5/5
Overall:
This is the first release from Goodgreef Digital that I have ever listened to, and I am impressed. My favorite mix was definitely the Original Mix as it seemed to be put together better than the others. I have a huge preference for tech trance so i tried not to be too nice and I'm being as honest as i can be in my ratings here. I'd recommend this, mainly for the tech trance folk, but it's for anyone who likes driving energetic music. 4/5
